The LE 1860 Jitter Meter was designed to measure the jitter of all T components (3T through 11T and 14T bits) and reads jitter and RF level simultaneously on separate meters. Metering for jitter is displayed in either nanoseconds or as a percentage of the clock. Jitter values are sigma weighted and are repeatable. Readings are valid for the DVD EFM serial bit data stream conforming to DVD ROM disc specifications. The instrument measures in two different modes either by internal reclocking derived from a single input data signal or relative to an externally applied data signal with separate clock input. An adjustment control enables phase matching to the external clock. GO/NO-GO judgement functions with operator-set low and high limits, for both jitter and RF level, are of particular value in production and QC applications. This invites a continuous process improvement by setting goals for optimizing the on line process. BNC outputs available from the rear panel are DC volts proportional to RF level and jitter meter full scale deflection. BNC monitoring outputs are available for the 50W clock, data and jitter outputs. An input BNC for inhibit input signal helps to optimize throughput. A 14-pin D-sub connector allows for remote control where required.
