The LG 3226 is a new, economy synthesized signal generator and fully programmable from 100 kHz to 2 GHz offering accuracy and stability needed to characterize designs. Frequency switching speed is <50 ms typical to the settled carrier frequency. SSB phase noise is specified to be -115 dBc/Hz to -130 dBc/Hz enabling work close in to the carrier. Simultaneous modulation capabilities include AM+FM, DC-FM + internal FM, FM internal + FM external (FM dual tone). Standard AM is (0 to 99.9%) and FM goes to 500 kHz peak deviation with carrier >1.04 GHz. FM modulation polarity can be selected. RF output is referred to dBm/dBm into 50W or dBm EMF. A dynamic range of -133.0 to +13.0 dBm allows testing of very sensitive receivers. A continuous variable output mode over a ±5 dB range optimizes precise hysteresis testing in squelch circuits. The offset function masks attenuation or gain of devices connected to the output and matches levels. Four output presets can be set for commonly used levels and a RF on/off key is provided. Step modes for output level as well as relative D frequency and RF frequency and D level modes clarify front panel operation when incrementing at odd frequencies or output levels. Memory capacity totaling 1,000 presets simplifies efficient high-speed throughput of repetitive complex test sequences. A panel lock mode prevents erroneous operation on production lines. Presets can be cloned with the data send/edit function one or ten groups at a time via the GPIB port. This extends test repeatability across multiple generators adding productivity All in all, the LG 3226 is up to many challenging requirements for R&D, production testing of communication applications for single side-band receivers, beepers, high frequency components, filters and local oscillators.
KEY FEATURESPower on/off restores the last front panel settings before powering down. Program group/address shows 0-9 group and 00-99 address for 1,000 total. Modulation modes include AM to 99.9% and FM to 500 kHz peak. RF frequency display is 9 digits, with 10/20 Hz resolution that breaks at 1 .02 GHz. Also shows frequency step or D frequency relative to carrier. RF output level has 4 digits with 0.1 dB resolution for excellent repeatability. Presets allow user to set and recall 4 commonly used RF output levels. RF output is reverse power protected up to 25 watts. Amplitude modify functions change offset level, increment or decrement step level and selected enunciated digit varies level with rotary knob. Frequency/modulation modify functions change ± D frequency, increment/ decrement frequency or modulation factor or relative D frequency step mode. Data entry block has special, shift and function keys for entering or modifying data. Memory section has 10 groups of 100 memories with keys to step through group, address locations in recall and write-to-memory when in store mode. Modulation block has enunciator LEDs for external input amplitude, modulation frequency, on/off with internal or external and simultaneous modulation modes
