|
| "Our Altiris software
paid for itself in just 6 months. The return on investment was
tremendous. The turnaround time on imaging provides us continued
value in getting machines back to usable status more
quickly."
--Lamar Institute of Technology
|
| ÒWe estimate that the
college saved $200,000 during the first six months of using
LabExpert.Ó
--Westminster College
|
| With LabExpert you can easily reconfigure a
classroom from one operating environment to another with one or
two mouse clicks. For example, you could set the classroom up as
a writing lab using Windows 98 and MS Word in the morning, then
reconfigure all PCs to use Windows NT and the C++ libraries to
teach an advanced programming class in the afternoon, then
completely reconfigure the entire classroom with Windows 2000
and Office 2000 for an evening adult education class. Using
LabExpertÕs new course caching and restore features, you can
easily return each respective classroom PC to its proper state
prior to class the next day. |
| Easy to Use Managment Console |
| The easy-to-use management console runs on any
Windows workstations. Wizards help you build events to carry out
common PC management taskssimply drag the event onto a computer
or group of computers, run it immediately or schedule it
forafter hours. ItÕs that easy. And since the Altiris client
agent carries out assignments and reports the status of
individual PCs, tracking progress is automatic. |
| Hands-Off PC Deployment |
| LabExpert allows you to mass-deploy an OS and base
applications, assign unique security IDs, and configure user
names, IP addresses, and other network settings. Then, because
every student has unique needs, you can install and configure
class and/or department-specific software, and migrate
user-specific data and settings to new PCs. Mass deployment and
periodic updates have never been easier. |
| Simplified Software Management |
| Deployment is only part of the battle. Once a new
PC is deployed, you need to manage software upgrades and
restoration of classroom/lab PCs on an ongoing basis. LabExpert
makes it faster and easier than ever, to deploy, configure,
upgrade and restore software on PCs. Distribute applications,
install service packs, set up printer drivers, or modify
individual PCs-LabExpert makes it simple. |
| Easy Data and Settings Migration |
| Migrating student data and settings from an old
computer to a new one has always been a frustrating process.
LabExpert simplifies migration by offering a wizard that guides
users as they capture desktop, network, and application
settings, along with user data, then packages it in a
self-extracting file for easy re-deployment on a new computer or
a new operating system. |
| Respond to Common Requests |
| Frantic calls are an unavoidable part of running a
network. Thanks to LabExpert, IT technicians can remotely
browse, diagnose and repair problems on PCs without ever leaving
their station. Detailed hardware and software inventory for each
computer, along with remote control and chat, help simplify
remote diagnosis of common problems. Plus, a history of all
tasks performed on a computer makes it easy to restore the
system to a known working state. |
| Powerful Backup and Restore |
| Students will inevitably mess up their PC. Not a
problem with LabExpert. Simply schedule events to automatically
back up and restore software, PC personalities, registries,
partitions, and drives on a regular basis. When something goes
wrong, you can restore the appropriate files with a few simple
mouse clicks. |
| Per Node License -- |
| All LabExpert node licenses are sold on a
"per computer" basis. The per node license allows the
specified number of PCs to be imaged (cloned) and/or configured
once or multiple times. Once a computer has been imaged, the
license may not be transferred to another PC. For example, if a
customer needs to image two hundred (200) classroom PCs in four
(4) classrooms, he/she would purchase a 200-node license. A
50-node license cannot be used to image 200 PCs even if only 50
PCs are imaged at a time. Likewise, a single classroom license
cannot be used to manage more than one classroom if only a
single classroom is managed at one time. All Altiris node
licenses are "additive" in nature in that they may be
combined with a license of a similar product and version to
achieve almost any desired node level. For example, two 100-node
licenses may be combined to form a 200-node license. |
| Site License -- |
| Site Licenses are sold on a "per site"
basis and are restricted for use at a single, contiguous,
physical location. A customer, such as a PC manufacturer, system
OEM, system integrator, channel assembler or IS department, with
multiple sites must purchase a separate license for each site |
