| Specifications:
The D4000 Electricity - Electronics trainer shall provide a hands-on training experience in practical applications of electricity and electronics. The system consists of a portable mainframe instrumentation panel, component modules, accessories, multimeter, and a 7 to 10 day plus courseware package. A reprint release is granted to the purchaser for all courseware.
Main Frame:
The 18 gauge welded steel main frame provides an instrumentation panel that houses three component modules with all components identified in bold white lettering. The component modules shall be removable and shall mount to the instrumentation panel through the use of a mounting post system. The main frame shall also house a 5 to 10 VDC power supply, 12 to 24 VAC power supply, variable potentiometer, electromagnet, magnetic and compass platforms, and storage area for testing instruments. The system shall be safety fused and grounded to provide maximum safety to the student.
The system must also have the capability of expanding through the use of optional program expansion modules and computer interface module.
Component Modules:
The component modules shall have all components hard mounted for ease of operation and component inventory. Module I shall supply 3 lamp sockets with bulbs and 10 variable value resistors. Module 2 shall supply 1 SPST switch, 1 DPDT switch, 1 pushbutton switch, and I solenoid coil. Module 3 shall supply 1 DC motor, 1 DC generator, and I relay. All component circuit connections are made through the use of a banana jack system.
Accessories:
The system shall provide 14 multi
patch connection cords, magnetism platform, compass platform,
weight module, instructors spare parts kit, faulted patch
cords, grounded power line cord, and portable digital
multimeter. All accessories shall be housed in storage
areas on the main frame.
Curriculum:
The 7 to 10 Day Plus curriculum shall provide a flexible program that includes 21 units of activities and experiments, student word activity worksheets, quiz worksheets, lab inquiry worksheets, student note worksheets, and pre and post tests. A complete instructors guide is also provided to help guide the student through the program. An optional Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) program is available.
OPTIONAL PROGRAM MODULES
SWITCHING
APPLICATION MODULE
MODEL
4001

The D4001 addresses practical applications for technical switching devices such as sound actuators, reed switches, tilt switches, and mercury switches. This module provides an expansion of the DISCOVERY IV program. Many of the components are found in sophisticated electronic systems and must be used in tandem with the DISCOVERY IV. An experiment guide is included as well as all required connection hardware. The following components shall be supplied: sound actuator sensor, DPDT lever switch, SPST pushbutton switch, magnetic reed switch, mercury switch, tilt switch, lamp socket with lamp, sounding device, and banana jack leads.
AUTOMOTIVE CIRCUITRY
MODEL
4002

The D4002 program consists of two modules that provide the student with problem solving and application experiences, which challenge the student's prior training knowledge. The AUTO IGNITION module supplies the connections for a power source, system relay and control switches for ignition, headlights and taillights, turn signals, emergency flashers, windshield wiper and washers, interior dome light, and brakes. The AUTOMOTIVE CIRCUITRY module provides headlights, turn signal lights, hazard lights, washer/wiper indicators, taillights, dome and license plate lights and trunk light controlled by a mercury switch. All required connection hardware is also supplied. The D4002 must be used in tandem with the DISCOVERY IV system. An experiment guide is included.
